Animation Test Shot!

Hi Guys,

I've been working on a production bible these days and I've been asked to also produce an animation shot as a proof of concept. The guidelines for this bible were 4 cards again: Folk Art (art style) Fairy Waitress (character), School (setting), Renovation Programme (kind of show).

This project has been started by Lizzie (http://lzbthartandanimation.blogspot.co.uk/) as those were her cards for the pick and mix project I already mentioned some time ago (beginning of October). She basically planned all the story and its look doing character designs and concept pieces, I helped her developing a pitch bible for our hand-in.

Even if I have a constant feeling that I haven't done enough for any project I quite like the final result of my work.

These are the artworks I've produced for the project:

early concept

concept art

concept of the school location before renovation

concept of the school location after renovation

a background

pose sheet fro the main character

concept art

And, my animation test down here:

Thank you,

Valeria

Life Drawing!

Hi Guys!

Here you have my today's life drawings!
I am pleased to see that hard work pays every time. I feel like I am improving my skills in this subject and because of that I am more relaxed during the sessions and I get to enjoy them more.

As always I am not saying that my work is perfect because it is clearly not, but every time it is slightly better than the previous attempt and that is truly motivational.

Life Drawing!

Hi Guys!

here you have my life drawings from last week, I tried to experiment a little bit this time with different styles and more quick sketches getting the overall shape and balance of the pose and then when I had the time I sketched the details separately. All the poses were about ten minutes long.

I decided to do this kind of exercise because sometimes I get distracted by details and I loose the feel of the pose. I still have to practice a lot on this, but I reckon this way of approaching the life drawing classes  might help me improve.

Thank you,

Valeria

A Go with Character Modelling!

Hi Guys!

Today we had a tutorial from our third years on character modeling in mud box especially how to shape a face and some tips on the various tools of the software.

That is what I did, hope you like it, of course, this was my one-hour work product and it can be improved in many different ways like reducing the eye dimension to start with one... Anyway, I am quite pleased with my character modelling skills.

Thank you,

Valeria

Modelling!

Hi Guys!

Here you have some models I did in tutorials at uni, I tried to light it up and rendering it using Maya render software as we momentarily don't have RenderMan in the studios, so you can tell is not too good.

I'll try to render those again with RenderMan on my laptop at some point.

Halloween pumpkin!

Torch!

I did have the chance to do again lighting and rendering of my pumpkin with RenderMan and with warmer lights looks definitely better!
check it out!

I rendered it again with a different camera angle, because why not?
RenderMan makes me happy!

Rendered my torch too with RenderMan!

Now... you can tell the difference... isn't RenderMan great!?

Thank you,

Valeria

11 Second Club October 2016 Competition!

Hi Guys!

Here you have my attempts for the 11 second club October competition.

The 11 second club (if you don't know what it is) is a website that monthly launches animation contests providing a 11 seconds piece of audio from a different movie each month, during that time anyone who is animating something for the competition can upload the work in progress and get feedback from the comunity and at the end of the month the winner of the competition gains some really good animation tutorials, anyway I'll attach the link to the website if you like to have a look: http://www.11secondclub.com/ .

I have already four versions of my work as you can see and yet I am planning to produce another version smoothing some movements, fixing the coherence of the backgrounds and maybe coloring my animation. Sadly I am unsure of making it as I have loads of other hand-ins due for the 2nd of December. I'll do my best as always but I can't make any promises as my university work is my priority as you can imagine.

Hopefully you will enjoy my interpretation of this line from "What do we do in the shadows".

Life Drawing!

Hi Guys!

Here you have my life drawings from last week, finally with a different model, I really enjoyed this session as we had the chance to do more quick sketches of dynamic poses and play with complicated perspective (on which I struggled a lot).

I need to improve these skills a lot, but I am pleased to see that heaving a different model makes a huge difference in the quality of my drawings, even if they are still lacking in precision and clarity, in fact, I am planning to do more life drawing in my spare time as is a really useful skill I better improve.
